Match the finish to the condition doing the most damage. Most applications are shaped by one or two of these factors more than the rest.
Cement/lime kilns, incinerators, coal-fired boilers, and furnaces call for fiberglass media or an ePTFE membrane finish.
Bottom bag abrasion is a common pleated-bag upgrade trigger; Graf-O-Sil protects glass yarns and adds lubricity.
Silicone finishes and PTFE or fluorocarbon bath treatments add water and oil repellency to felts and woven fabrics.

Standard bags use a single layer of flat or tubular fabric. Pleated bags fold the media into a corrugated shape that packs more surface area into the same housing footprint, increasing filtration area by 200 to 300 percent. That lowers the air-to-cloth ratio and allows higher airflow, and pleated bags are built as direct replacements so existing housings and cages don't need to change.

Start with what's stressing the bag: heat, abrasion, moisture, or chemical exposure. Non-fiberglass finishes cover felts and woven fabrics such as polyester, polypropylene, acrylic, aramid, PPS, and P84, while fiberglass-specific finishes are built for the highest-temperature applications, including cement and lime kilns and coal-fired boilers.
There's no universal interval. Bag life depends on dust loading, temperature, and the finish selected. MikroPul's on-site assessments and inspections are designed to evaluate wear and recommend a replacement schedule specific to your system.
Pleated bags address bottom bag abrasion directly, and several finishes, including PTFE surface treatments, acid-resistant coatings, and chemical-resistant fiberglass options, are built for harsh, high-wear, or corrosive conditions.
