Bags

Types of Dust Collector Bags

Pulse Jet Bags

  • Ideal for dry dust applications
  • Operate at higher air-to-cloth ratios than shaker or reverse air collectors
  • Dust collects on the outside of the bag
  • Cleaned through a high pressure blast of compressed air
  • Typically made from non-woven materials unless used in high-temperature applications
  • Compatible with Pulsaire units with bags up to 26 feet in length

Pleated Bags for Pulse Jet Dust Collectors

  • MikroPul’s pleated bags offer solutions for issues like bottom bag abrasion, insufficient airflow, high pressure drop, and elevated emission rates.
  • Increase filtration area by 200-300%, reducing air-to-cloth ratios and allowing higher airflow.
  • Serve as direct replacements for traditional filter bags and cages
  • Benefits include reduced emissions, lower maintenance costs, improved dust release, and extended filter life

Reverse Air Bags

  • Suitable for large air volume applications such as wood and metal industries
  • Dust collects on the inside of the bags
  • Cleaned through a back flush or air and mechanical flexing of the bag fabric
  • Features off-line cleaning with bags that remain open during cleaning due to anti-collapse rings
  • Typically made from woven or lightweight non-woven filter bags

Do I need Pleated Bags

Standard vs. pleated pulse jet bags

MikroPul's pleated bags are engineered as direct replacements for standard filter bags and cages — no housing modifications needed. If you experience any of the below problems, it may be the right choice to change from standard bags to pleated bags.

Problem

  • Bottom bag abrasion
  • Insufficient airflow
  • High pressure drop
  • Elevated emission rates

Pleated bag advantages

  • Direct replacement for traditional filter bags and cages
  • 200–300% more filtration area, lowering air-to-cloth ratio and allowing higher airflow
  • Reduced emissions and improved dust release
  • Lower maintenance costs and extended filter life

Selection Guide

What's stressing your filter bags

Match the finish to the condition doing the most damage. Most applications are shaped by one or two of these factors more than the rest.

Heat

Cement/lime kilns, incinerators, coal-fired boilers, and furnaces call for fiberglass media or an ePTFE membrane finish.

Mikrotex
Chemflex

Abrasion

Bottom bag abrasion is a common pleated-bag upgrade trigger; Graf-O-Sil protects glass yarns and adds lubricity.

Pleated bags
Graf-O-Sil

Moisture & Oil

Silicone finishes and PTFE or fluorocarbon bath treatments add water and oil repellency to felts and woven fabrics.

Acid & Chemical Exposure

Acid-resistant Aramid felts and fiberglass Chemflex or chemical-resistant finishes protect against corrosive process gas.
